Clerk (=Chief Executive), Dear Mrs Dicks, A few years ago, I took my concern about broadband censorship within the Society of Friends to PM and thence to MM (Monthly Meeting), where it was sandbagged. Yours only response to my material was a short note to say you had noted it. I have informed the previous Recording Clerk, and also generations of editors of The Friend. I have also approached editors of Quaker Monthly and Friends Quarterly, one of whom threatened to sue me but would not otherwise communicate. I have also been censored by Anne Hosking and by Helen Drewery. I admit that I have managed to publish under women's names, but only second class material. The most important is blocked, even if proffered under a woman's name (generally one of the big cats; Lyon, Leppard, Lince etc.). Damage resulting from my airing Quaker matters on my new website will not be my fault. I feel I have waited far too many decades for an avenue of communication to open up within the Society of Friends (Quakers). I would have much preferred to communicate within the Society.
30oct98 Dear Ivor Catt, Thank you for your letter of 5 October and the attached copy correspondence, which I have read. I know that many Friends in Britain Yearly meeting are in favour of openness in information matters. For my part I have not come across censorship within the Religious Society of Friends. However we are not able, as I am sure you will understand, to provide particular communication avenues for individuals. With best wishes [signed] Elsa Dicks,
2nov98 Dear Recording Clerk, You have not read "the attached copy correspondence" and other material sent to you, because it is absolutely clear that the matter under discussion is not the censorship of Ivor Catt. I care little about whether Ivor Catt be censored. Every organisation needs its Demons, Persona non Grata. Anyway, I publish under good female Quaker-Kosher names, as I have told you. Still, only the out of date and second rate is tolerated. It is possible that two requirements for appointment to high office in the Society of Friends are; Insistence on the ideology that All is Personal. A true Quaker cares only for herself. Therefore concern about censorship of others is not a proper concern for a true Quaker (=Reconstructed Quaker). It follows that either Ivor Catt is only worrying about censorship of himself, or he is not a True (=Reconstructed) Quaker. Either way, he should be ignored. Use of the blind eye for political purposes. Either Top Dog is incapable of discerning censorship, or uses the blind eye for political purposes. The tragedy is that Napoleon used this powerful strategy when the Fate of the Nation was at stake. Its present use is merely to crack a nut (Ivor Catt). Overkill, surely. You should keep your powder dry for the big battles to come. Catt is insignificant. Yours sincerely, Ivor Catt.
